What are Wall Caps?
- Wall caps, also known as capstones or coping, are essential finishing touches for outdoor walls, pillars, and other hardscape features in Orange County. These flat stones or manufactured pieces protect your walls from water damage by effectively shedding rain and preventing moisture from seeping into the wall's core. This helps maintain the structural integrity and longevity of your walls, whether they're enclosing your garden in Mission Viejo or bordering your patio in Yorba Linda. Beyond their functional role, wall caps also enhance the aesthetic appeal of your outdoor space. They provide a clean, finished look and can be selected to complement your home's architectural style. Choose from a variety of materials, including natural stone like limestone and sandstone, concrete, or even traditional brick, to create a cohesive and stylish design for your Orange County property.

Course: HOW ARE WALL CAPS INSTALLED?
Process - Wall Cap / Coping Installation
Discover our step by step guide on how we bring your Landscape projects to life. Unless otherwise stated in your contract, all installations pertaining to Wall Caps / Coping are performed in the exact outlined method!
Phase 1: Surface Preperation
-
The top surface of the wall is thoroughly cleaned to remove any debris, dirt, or loose mortar, ensuring a clean and stable base for the capstones.
-
Any necessary repairs to the wall, such as filling cracks or repointing mortar joints, are completed to ensure a level and even surface.
Phase 2: Capstone Placement & Adhesion
-
A high-quality construction adhesive (grout or otherwise as needed per manufacturer requirement) is applied to the top surface of the wall to ensure a strong bond with the capstones.
-
The capstones are carefully positioned on the wall, ensuring proper alignment and spacing. Adjustments are made as needed to achieve a seamless and aesthetically pleasing fit.
Phase 3: Securing & Finishing
-
Depending on the type of capstone and wall construction, additional securing methods may be employed, such as mortar or mechanical fasteners.
-
The joints between the capstones are sealed with mortar or sealant to prevent water penetration and ensure a weathertight finish. Excess mortar or sealant is carefully removed for a clean and professional appearance.
